Some Things About The One Tonne Gold Coin

By Jack Wogan

Yes there is! The one tone gold coin has been minted. Investors in this precious metal know it is worth a great deal and sometimes it is not the quantity that determines its value. For example, some coins might value much more than they actually weigh because of their historical symbolism, because of the mint defects, rarity issues and so on. However, in the case of the one tone Australian coin, history and face value got together to create something extremely valuable that all investors dream about.

Created by the Perth mint from Australia, the one tone coin is estimated to be worth 54 million dollars. The huge quantity of precious metal used for its creation is the reason why it is so valuable. The truth is that it is unique for this century and there probably has never been one like this in the past either.

This coin has unique features that no other coin can equal. It is not made from ordinary gold, but from one of 99.99 percent purity. Its exact weight is of one tone and 12 kilograms. It is 80 centimeters wide and has a 12 centimeters thickness. All these qualities are the ones that make it unique and fascinate investors from all over the world.

It is a fact that most investors prefer to buy gold bars or coins. This is because they do not require extremely large sums of money and are easy to sell afterwards. Because of that, the Australian gold coin is probably the dream of many investors these days. Unfortunately almost no one can afford it since its value is beyond the purchasing power of many. The moment the Australian state gave this coin legal tender, its face value was established at one million dollars. In spite of that, the future years will make it be worth more and more everyday if other similar coins are not minted.

In spite of the size, the Australian coin has a beautiful design done with lots of care. The two sides feature the Australian kangaroo and the Queen Elisabeth the Second. On the side with the picture of the kangaroo, below it there is written Red Kangaroo. The image is circled by the text: 'Australian kangaroo 1 Tonne 9999 Gold 2012'. The side with the queen's portrait has the following inscription: 'Elisabeth II. Australia. 1000000 dollars' disposed in concentric position. The moment this creation of the Australian mint became public it draw the attention of many investors. For them, the same mint decided to release a series of Australian kangaroo coins in miniature so that even the common investors could buy them.

  1. Great post about The one tone gold coin, Mint State gold coins are gold coins which were originally minted with the intention of circulating in commerce. However, these coins did not in fact circulate. They remain in original mint condition (thus the term "mint state"), with graded Mint State (MS) 60 through 69 on the American Numismatic Association's numerical scale.
